Who is the godess?

The godess one of the pair of deities of the wiccan religion. She represents the softer influences in nature, the godess is there in the light of the moon, the smooth, soft feel of cotton and silk, and the miracle of birth. In fact, we as wiccans believe that even the god and the godess exist in the eternal cycle of birth and death. The godess is known as the "Eternal Mother". The god dies in the fall, and in the spring, the godess gives birth to a child, that has grown in her womb all winter, in the summer it matures, then in the fall, the child (the god) weds the godess, impregnates her, and then dies, thus compleating the cycle.

Though many female wiccans only celebrate the godess and worship only her, there is still an eternal balance between the godess and the god. There is no good and evil deity in wicca, though, both the god and the godess have their good and bad sides, as do we all. The most important thing to remember is this, there is no absolute right or wrong in how we view the god or the godess. The god and the godess are whatever we make of them. If you prefer to see them as Zeus and Hera, or as Apollo and Apophrodite, then that is what they will be. Many do not realize that it does not matter who or what you worship, as long as you believe and do what in your heart you know to be the right thing, and you do no harm to others, than you are still in the right.
